Frequently Asked Questions
How is the GS1 Modulo-10 check digit calculated?
Starting from the rightmost payload position (pos 17) to pos 1, digits are multiplied alternately by 3 and 1. The products are summed, and the check digit is the difference needed to reach the next higher multiple of 10.
What does Application Identifier (00) mean in GS1-128?
AI (00) tells barcode scanners that the succeeding 18 numerical digits represent an SSCC logistics container identifier, triggering automated pallet intake in warehouse management systems (WMS).
