About This Tool
Slicers like Cura, PrusaSlicer, and Bambu Studio reject or improperly slice 3D models with unclosed surfaces and naked boundary edges. This tool scans triangle topology in browser memory, highlights open loops, and fan-caps missing face polygons to produce 100% manifold watertight meshes.
How to Use
- 1
Drop your ASCII or binary .stl 3D model into the inspection zone.
- 2
Review topological diagnostics: total triangle count, naked boundary edges, and manifold status.
- 3
Inspect the 3D isometric wireframe preview showing detected hole loops.
- 4
Download the auto-capped, watertight binary .stl file ready for 3D print slicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What causes non-manifold geometry in STL files?
Non-manifold errors occur when an edge is shared by only 1 face (open hole) or more than 2 faces (intersecting self-walls), or when surface normals point backwards.
Why do 3D slicers fail on non-manifold models?
Slicing engines use ray-casting algorithms to determine what is inside versus outside the solid body. When a model has open holes, the inside-outside definition fails, resulting in missing solid infill or hollow voids.
